A) I’m delighted to have a term to apply to this phenomenon, which takes, “I could do better” to a less abstract level.

B) Interesting “oh brother!” kind of take by the author towards these earnest (or sometimes hostile) attempts. The letter to American Airlines and thoughtful response from an anonymous AA designer (about the difficulties and different pace involved in designing for an enterprise), runs along the same lines.
C) Now I wonder if any unofficial, passive aggressive Vancouver designers would think to try their angry hand at a new new redesign.

Typographic Maps that tell a story: London Surnames

Typographic Maps that tell a story: London Surnames:
Great-looking maps by James Cheshire: soft documentation of diversity in London as told through the popularity of surnames found across geographic areas. http://names.mappinglondon.co.uk/

Yeah, I love the Talking Heads. I took a letterpress course at Emily Carr a couple of years ago and made small posters of the lyrics from This Must Be The Place (the first verse alone, incidentally, took me all morning to set).

I find the quirkiness of Talking Heads to be more compelling and charming than Ian Curtis’ (also compelling) intensity.

Also, I like this question way more than Beatles vs Stones.
